As part of the Collection Services Department, the Systems and Electronic Resources Librarian is responsible for maintaining access to electronic resources in the Law Library. This includes managing activation and regular maintenance of electronic resources, and their associated bibliographic records, as well as coordinating and troubleshooting access and authentication for Law Library staff and users. The Systems and Electronic Resources Librarian also supports the overall management of the Library’s integrated library system and discovery catalog and other tools and platforms that incorporate metadata for both user discovery and internal management of Law Library resources.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited institution.
- A minimum of two years of experience in a law or academic library. A combination of professional and significant paraprofessional experience may be considered for this requirement.
- Substantial experience using an integrated library system such as Ex Libris’ Alma.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with electronic resources management, including batch loading.
- Experience with the cataloging process and relevant tools such as OCLC’s WorldShare Collection/Record Manager, and MarcEdit.
The Judge Kathryn J. DuFour Law Library at The Catholic University of America School of Law is seeking applicants for the position of Systems and Electronic Resources Librarian. The Systems and Electronic Resources Librarian manages access to electronic resources in the Library’s integrated library system and discovery catalog by activating electronic resources, maintaining load profiles, managing import of bibliographic records, and troubleshooting access and authentication issues experienced by Law Library users. This position also coordinates library staff use of the Library’s integrated library system and discovery catalog, including suggesting and implementing configuration changes, researching solutions to problems, and consulting on staff training needs. The Systems and Electronic Resources Librarian serves as a key resource for troubleshooting library staff technology issues and addressing future technology needs by staying current on emerging trends and technologies, most namely ongoing enhancements to the Library’s integrated library system. This technology support also extends to third-party integrations to the Library’s integrated library system.
The Systems and Electronic Resources Librarian will also be afforded the opportunity to develop expertise in the reporting functions of the Library’s integrated library system in support of the Library’s statistical reporting obligations, as well as opportunities to participate on Law Library and library consortia committees, task forces, and other projects.
