Equipment Coordinator and Access Services Specialist

Summary

The Equipment Coordinator and Access Services Specialist is responsible for efficiently managing and maintaining a media equipment collection and ensuring that these state-of-the-art resources are reliably available to the Georgetown community. This position will be responsible for supporting the Service Desk in the Access Services department, and supervising the work of student assistants during regularly scheduled shifts in the Library. This position is responsible for training library staff and student employees on the equipment so that they have the knowledge and necessary skills to provide exceptional customer service to all library users. This position will also process all Fines/Fees for the Access Services Department.  The work hours of this position are from 11:30 am to 8:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Work assignments and schedule will vary and may include evenings, weekends and holidays to address cyclical and priority needs of the department. Work Mode: Hybrid

Description

This position reports directly to the Access Services Department Head. Interacts with students, faculty and staff on a daily basis, providing access to media equipment and library collections, interpreting library policies, fines and fees, and answering informational and directional questions. Supervises student employees, delegates work, and provides constructive feedback.  This position will work closely with staff in Digital Scholarship and Technology Services department. Coordinates with vendors for the availability, acquisition, warranty and/or repair of hardware and software.  

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2 years of library experience – preferably in an academic setting
  • Experience using video editing and audio editing programs
  • Experience using digital media production equipment
  • Experience fixing audiovisual and digital media equipment
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the role of academic libraries meeting the information needs of students, faculty, and staff

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Integrated Library Systems
  • Must be flexible and agile when working as part of a team in a complex, changing environment and able to apply good judgement and diplomacy when negotiating disputes
  • Strong public service orientation
  • Supervisory experience desirable
